Technical innovator in design
What is your passion?
What is important for you?
Technical transparency, authenticity, and human experience.
Describe your work in one sentence without using the word ‘design’.
My work is conceptual with a touch of technology.
How do you relate to the field of well-being?
Ilse Crawford mentioned: “Cool head and warm heart”.
I can totally relate to those words and use the dynamic balance they stand for in my personal work.
Well-being is Human Centered. How to reach people and connect?
Invite and give back.
For the new City Hall in Deventer we invited 2300 citizens to be part of our project: Deventer Raamwerk. The results are truly amazing, and a great example of human connection.
What do you do for the world & what is your input?
I work on several interdisciplinary projects concerning textile innovation, solar energy storage, and social design. As an idealist, entrepreneur, designer, creative problem solver, and a team player I try to care about the world.
How would your work influence the future?
Some projects are most definitely future-focused, but it doesn’t give me the power to answer this question.
How do others benefit most from what you do?
The projects I have worked on are multi-complex and challenging. It is key to combine opposites. Keeping the bigger picture, without losing any details. Finding a technical solution, which is esthetic. Co-create while you stay true to yourself.
How do you structure your life?
Like an English garden.
When talking about design what do you want to be associated with.
Architecture, textile, business and innovation.
What kind of media are you working with?
Analogue: hand drawings, scale models, collages, material experiments, and words.
Digital: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office. Final projects together with a local professional, company, or creative team.
What type of assignment do you feel comfortable with?
Clear assignments with a realistic budget. I find challenge more important than comfort.
